Kupwara Police Organizes Thana Divas and Awareness Programme on New Criminal Laws

Kupwara: Continuing its efforts to enhance public engagement and address community concerns, Kupwara Police conducted Thana Divas at Police Station Kralpora, Police Post Drugmulla, and Police Post Khurhama. Additionally an Awareness Programme on New Criminal Laws was held at the Women Police Station Kupwara to educate women about legal reforms and their rights.

At Police Station Kralpora, the programme was chaired by Syed Mujahid-ul-Haq-JKPS, DySP DAR Kupwara, where residents highlighted various issues with regard to policing and development including hard hand on drug peddling and the need for a Sports Ground, Gymnasium, and Public Library etc in the area .Community members were assured that their concerns would be taken up with the relevant departments for necessary action.

At Police Post Drugmulla, Rafee Rather-JKPS, DySP Hqrs Kupwara interacted with locals who raised issues related to policing, infrastructure development, sanitation, and public amenities. Concerns over waste management, road connectivity, and other civic issues were also discussed, with assurances given for appropriate coordination with administrative authorities. The importance of community participation in maintaining law and order was also emphasized.

At Police Post Khurhama, Raeis Ahmad-JKPS, DySP PC Lolab presided over the session, where locals shared grievances regarding day-to-day policing matters and sought better engagement for resolving public concerns. Police officers encouraged citizens to cooperate in maintaining peace and security while ensuring that their feedback is taken into account in policing strategies.

Meanwhile, at the Women Police Station Kupwara, an Awareness Programme on New Criminal Laws was conducted, focusing on the awareness with regard to the new criminal laws.The event was attended by DySP DAR Kupwara, DySP(P) Goldy Sharma, DySP(P) Shivek Sharma, SHO Women’s Police Station, and representatives from the Women’s Cell Kupwara. Women from different backgrounds participated in the session, where officers detailed key legal changes, particularly regarding enhanced protections for women, stricter punishments for sexual offenses, laws addressing false promises of marriage, cybercrime regulations, and procedural safeguards for victims.

Participants were encouraged to seek police assistance without hesitation and were assured of the department’s continued commitment to women’s safety and empowerment. Kupwara Police reiterated its dedication to strengthening community-oriented policing, addressing public grievances effectively, and ensuring legal awareness among all sections of society.
