Srinagar: The Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), in collaboration with Core ISPD Mind Academy, successfully organized a unique and thought-provoking one-day workshop on Blind Reading Techniques today on 24th June, 2025 at the VMS Auditorium. The workshop was specially designed for individuals with non-congenital visual impairment.
The session introduced participants to subliminal and sublingual sensory processing through a series of blindfold-based exercises. These activities demonstrated how the brain can engage non-visual pathways for perception and learning. One of the most captivating moments was a live demonstration in which participants—while blindfolded—were able to accurately identify and differentiate colors, leaving the audience both astonished and inspired.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Prof. Masooda Yaseen (Vice President, VMS), eminent psychiatrist Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Margoob, Dr. Tariq Margoob (Founder & Director, Core ISPD Mind Academy), Dr. Bashir Ahmad Lone, Dr. Mohammad Ayoub, Dr. Aiman, Mr. Bilal Ahmad, along with staff from the VMS Parivartan Centre/Visually Impaired Rehabilitation (VIR) Unit, Neuro Rehabilitation Unit, special educators, and students from the Parivartan Centre.
This innovative workshop marked a significant step forward in exploring subconscious learning and alternative techniques for empowering individuals with visual impairments, encouraging a deeper understanding of the brain’s adaptive capabilities beyond sight.
