‘Indigenous Toy’ Workshop under Art and Culture Programme Underway at JNV Anantnag

To cherish and value the local art form and cultural tradition, to develop aesthetic values and appreciation of beauty in nature, a workshop on ‘Indigenous Toy’ is underway at PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Anantnag under the theme ‘Folk Art of Kashmir and Women Empowerment’ as a part of the PM SHRI initiative.

This event, offering an immersive exploration of creativity and self expression, emphasises on the creation of indigenous toys through the traditional Kashmiri art form of paper mache.

The resource persons for this workshop namely Shahid Shabir Wani, Tasaduk Hussain, and Umaid Niyaz are drawn from the University of Kashmir’s Institute of Music and Fine Arts. The workshop is being coordinated by vidyalaya’s Art Teacher
Mr Muhammad Rafi Mir.

The students of class VI to XII participating in this workshop have embarked on a creative journey that blends artistic heritage with social empowerment under the able guidance of Vidyalaya’s worthy Principal Mr. S. N. Gupta. His impeccable planning and guidance has played a key role in the smooth and result-oriented conduct of the said programme.

Through this workshop, the participants are not just learning a craft, they are connecting themselves with the essence of Kashmir’s cultural history, understanding the importance of preserving the local traditions for future generations. Their energy and dedication has filled the workshop with a vibrant spirit of creativity and cultural pride.
