The vibrant gathering transformed the bustling square into a radiant scene of warmth and light. Diyas lined the area, casting a glow that symbolized the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. A local participant described the event as a way “to spread the light of peace and unity,” while another attendee shared that seeing the community come together made them feel hopeful for the future.

This Diwali saw an increase in demand for locally crafted diyas and pottery, as people showed renewed support for traditional artisans. By choosing handmade items, the community not only honored local craftsmanship but also supported artisans, reinforcing the importance of preserving these traditions.

The scene at Lal Chowk—filled with joy, nostalgia, and unity—captured the essence of Diwali in Srinagar, reminding everyone of the festival’s deeper meanings. As the lights illuminated the Clock Tower, the gathering underscored Diwali’s timeless message of love, harmony, and the enduring value of cultural heritage. This year’s celebration was a hopeful reminder of Srinagar’s vibrant spirit and its vision for a brighter future.
