Tral, 25th January: The NSS Units I & II of Government Degree College (GDC) Tral marked National Voters Day with a grand celebration aimed at emphasizing the importance of voting and encouraging active participation in the democratic process. The event, held under the national theme, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” aimed to inspire students and faculty to embrace their electoral responsibilities.
The program kicked off with a welcoming address by the principal of GDC Tral, Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, who underscored the significance of voting in shaping the future of the nation and the crucial role of educational institutions in fostering responsible citizens. The ceremony featured a pledge where NSS volunteers, staff, and attendees vowed to uphold democratic values and engage in the electoral process.
A key feature of the celebration was a lecture series by Dr. Mohd Shafi Dar (Assistant Professor, Urdu) and Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Khan (Associate Professor, Physics), who provided valuable insights on the power of voting, the importance of informed decision-making, and the need for youth participation in the democratic process.
The event saw vibrant participation from hundreds of NSS volunteers and staff members, all of whom reflected on their civic duties. A rally was organized to raise awareness in the local community about the importance of voting, further reinforcing the college’s commitment to promoting democratic values.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mehraj ud Din Sheikh, NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, participants, and the college administration for their support in making the event a success.
