Ganderbal, Aug 17(SM):Shock and outrage gripped central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday after the body of a minor girl, aged around 14–15 years, was recovered from the Batsar Sehpora road. Police said the girl was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by unidentified attackers, while her elder sister narrowly escaped and is undergoing treatment in hospital.

_Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, said police teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving the report. “Preliminary investigation has revealed that some individuals kidnapped the girl near her residence. Her sister, who was present at the time, managed to flee but is deeply traumatized,” SSP Poswal told reporters._

He said the girl’s body was later traced to the Batsar–Sehpora road, where crucial evidence was recovered. “A case under Section 103 of the BNS(murder) has been registered and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted for a detailed probe,” he added.

To expedite the investigation, police have sought assistance from Srinagar. “Our forensic experts are already on the job, and with the help of technical analysis, we are confident of cracking the case at the earliest. A board of doctors has also been constituted to ensure a transparent medico-legal examination,” Poswal said.(SM)
