Wisdom First Hosts Tribute to Ghulam Nabi Khayal to celebrating his Literary and Journalistic Legacy

Srinagar: The Kashmir has always been a cradle of extraordinary minds, visionaries whose intellect, pen, and insight have illuminated the Valley’s literary and intellectual horizon. Among such luminous figures was Ghulam Nabi Khayal, a seasoned poet, an exceptional translator, a profound man of letters, and above all, a fearless journalist who stood as a standard-bearer of truth, this was stated by the speakers at an event titles “Remembering Ghulam Nabi Khayal: A Voice of Thought- A tribute to a distinguished multilingual Writer, Author, Poet, and Journalist of South Asia”
On the occasion of his second death anniversary, a solemn and dignified commemorative event was held at the Amar Singh Club, Srinagar. The gathering was organized by Wisdom First, a distinguished association devoted to literature and journalism.
At the beginning of event Director Wisdom First and Editor Daily Srinagar Jang Bilal Bashir Bhat welcomed the audience and conveyed message of Khayal Sahib’s family Kamran Khayal, Irfan Khayal and daughter Dr Saba Khayal.
Wisdom First President Khurshid Qureshi invited members of panel on stage along with a tribute to Khayal Sahib. The ceremony was gracefully compered by noted journalist Rameez Makhdoomi.
The event witnessed the graceful participation of eminent personalities from various walks of life, veteran journalists, renowned poets, celebrated writers, and political leaders, all of whom paid heartfelt tribute to the life, works, and intellectual legacy of the late Ghulam Nabi Khayal.
The Day of Ghulam Nabi Khayal was, in essence, a moment of reflection, a testimony to his intellectual heritage, the fervor of his pen, and his uncompromising devotion to truth. The speakers said through his writings, Khayal breathed new dimensions into language and expression.
Speakers observed that his poetry carried the ache of human experience, while his prose shimmered with the radiance of truth, a light that continues to guide every conscientious journalist. His translations, his literary insight, and the cultural fragrance imbued in his writings still live on in the hearts of readers.
During the proceedings, the speakers shed light on the multifaceted genius of Khayal. They remarked that he was not merely an eminent writer but a thought, a vision, that touched the heights of humanity, truth, and artistic integrity through the medium of words. Khayal was remembered as a holistic personality who turned his pen into a banner of honesty and humanism.
The distinguished guests who attended included prominent writers, senior journalists, poets, and social figures such as Writers Hasrat Gadda, Dr. Satish Vimal, Prof. Farooq Fayaz, Joint Director Information Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, President Press Club Kashmir Saleem Pandit, Legendry Cartoonist Bashir Ahmad Bashir, Dy Director Information Ehsan-ul-Haq Chishti, Journalist Imdad Saqi, Writer Shaukat Shafi, Burhan Hussain Cultural Officer DIPR, Senior Officials Press Information Bureau and Doordarshah Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mudasir Amin, Majid Pandit, DIPR Official Shakeel Shaan, Javed Kakro Writer, Manzoor Zahoor Chisti, Editor Sufi Media Service.
Among the Socio-Political circles Tahir Sayed NC, Syed Tajamul PDP, Manzoor Bhat BJP Imtiyaz Chishti JKPC, Inam-un-Nabi AIP, and Firdous Baba Jagmohan Singh Raina Social Leader and member JKAP, Dr. Nawab Nasir Aam Admi Party graced the occasion.
Famous Journalists Muhammad Aslam Bhat of KNS, Sanam Ijaz of Voice TV, Nazim Nazir of Tameel Irshad also spoke on the occasion along with several noted media professionals.
As the evening unfolded, rich tributes were paid to Khayal’s monumental contributions. The speakers lauded Wisdom First for its sincere efforts in preserving and promoting intellectual and journalistic excellence.
The Directorate of Information also organized a musical segment led by Aqib Assad, where several of Khayal’s ghazals were melodiously rendered, evoking the timeless beauty of his art.


Ghulam Nabi Khayal remains not merely a name but a symbol of an era, a movement, and a radiant tradition. His pen still lives. His thought continues to guide and inspire.
