Pulwama, Press Release: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Pulwama organised an awareness-cum-input distribution programme under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) project titled “Outreach of Technologies and Distribution of Fish Processing Equipment for Economic Upliftment of Tribal and Low-Income Farmers.” The programme aimed to enhance livelihood opportunities and promote scientific fish processing practices among tribal farming communities.
The event was graced by Honble MLA Rajpora, Mr. Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, and was also attended by the Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof. Rihana Habib Kant, along with the Dean Faculty of Fisheries, Prof . Farooz Ah Bhat, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK, Pulwama, Prof. Javeed Ahmad Mugloo, the Principal Investigator of the project, scientists from KVK Pulwama, and other dignitaries. More than 100 tribal farmers from different areas participated enthusiastically in the programme.

Honble MLA Rajpora, Mr. Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir in his address appreciated the efforts of KVK Pulwama in reaching out to tribal farmers and promoting income-generating technologies that can strengthen rural livelihoods and self-reliance among marginalized communities.
During the awareness session, experts highlighted the importance of fish processing technologies, value addition, hygienic handling of fish products, and the scope of fisheries-based enterprises for improving income and nutritional security. Scientists also interacted with farmers and addressed their queries regarding fish processing, marketing, and entrepreneurship opportunities in the fisheries sector.
On the occasion, fish processing equipment and related implements were distributed free of cost among the beneficiary tribal farmers. The distribution of these inputs is expected to empower farmers with essential tools for fish processing and value addition, thereby enhancing their income-generating capacity.
The programme concluded with the commitment by KVK Pulwama to continue working for the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of tribal and marginal farming communities through technological interventions and capacity-building initiatives.
