Ganderbal, Apr 7 (SM): Police on Tuesday organised a series of drug awareness programmes across Ganderbal district as part of an anti-drug campaign, officials said.
The programmes were conducted under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” at various institutions, including Government Unani Medical College Nawabagh and several schools in Kangan, Batwina, Wakura and Lar.
Senior police officers, faculty members and students participated in the events, they said.
During the sessions, participants were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its impact on individuals, families and society.
Officials emphasised the importance of awareness and collective responsibility in curbing the spread of narcotics.
Interactive sessions were also held, during which students engaged with officers and discussed ways to resist peer pressure and make informed choices.
Police said such awareness programmes will continue in future as part of efforts to promote a drug-free society.
The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information related to drug abuse and trafficking.(SM)
