IRP 23rd BN Lethpora organized one day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan

Lethpora (Pulwama), PR: A one-day awareness programme on drug abuse under the theme “Nasha Mukt Abiyaan” was organised by IRP 23rd BN Lethpora on 20th April 2026 at Government Higher Secondary School, Lethpora, Pulwama.

The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students and the local community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage a collective commitment towards building a drug-free society.

Sh. Bakar Hussan Samoon-IPS, Commandant IRP 23rd Battalion, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was also accompanied by Shri Gh Hasan-JKPS, Dy Commandant, Shri Mohd Yousuf, DYSP (M) and other officers of the Battalion.

The Head of the Institution, Dr. Showkat Hussain Mir, presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Shri Bakar Hussan Samoon -IPS highlighted the alarming rise in substance abuse among youth and stressed the importance of awareness, education, and community participation in combating this menace. He urged students to stay away from drugs and become ambassadors of a healthy and responsible society. He also advised students to control their emotions at this stage and remain far off from drug addiction, as dreams of many people especially of their parents are connected with them.

Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS, Dy. Commandant emphasized the role of law enforcement agencies and community cooperation in eradicating drug abuse. In his impressive speech, he also highlighted different forms of drug abuse that drains economically. He also encouraged students to remain vigilant, utilise their energies positively for making a good society and report if any suspicious activities related to narcotics found in their areas.

The Principal of the institution, Dr. Showkat Hussain Mir in his address, thanked the IRP 23rd BN for choosing this institution for such an informative program. He also appreciated the initiative and reiterated the commitment of the institution towards nurturing responsible and aware citizens. He motivated students to adopt a disciplined lifestyle and focus on their education and personal growth.

The programme included awareness lectures from students like Aleem, Ibad Ullah, Monisa, Arizoo, Jasweeda Akber who shed light on the consequences of substance abuse in a beautiful manner that impressed the august gathering. Students also presented cultural programs during the said event.

Among the teaching staff, Mushtaq Ahmad, Gulzar Ahmad Lectures and Aijaz Ahmad, Master shed light on the burning issue of drug abuse. The speakers recalled towards duties and responsibilities and stressed the student community to focus on their studies in a better way rather indulging in such harmful activities.

The event concluded with a pledge taken by all participants to support the mission with “Say no to Drugs, Yes to life” compaign that marched from the said Institution to NHW-44 Lethpora market in order to spread awareness among the public in general. So that we should build Drug-Free India and eradicate this menace by its roots and actively contribute towards the Nasha Mukht Abiyaan compaign.
