Padyatras, Awareness and Outreach Activities Continue Across Pulwama Under NMBA

MLA Tral attends Dadasara awareness event, hails NMBA activities; says impact visible on ground

Pulwama, May 09: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness and outreach activities and padyatras were organised across District Pulwama to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free society.

A mega anti-drug awareness programme was organised at Dadasara Tral by administration in collaboration with Civic Welfare Forum Dadasara and Al-Khidmat Dadasara. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from various sections of society including youth, students, civil society members, members of Auqaf Committees and local residents.

The programme was attended by MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral, Sajid Yahya Naqash, officers of civil administration and Police besides Civil Defence and SDRF volunteers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers and SHG members.

During the programme, awareness sessions on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan were conducted by the resource persons and officers. Signature campaign, sports activities, pledge ceremony and Nasha Mukt film screening were also organised on the occasion. The event later culminated with a padyatra aimed at spreading the message of a drug-free lifestyle in the society.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmad Naik appreciated the awareness and enforcement activities being undertaken under the campaign and said that the impact of the campaign is visible on the ground . He urged the public to actively participate in the campaign while spreading awareness regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse.

Similar awareness programmes were organised at Gudoora Pulwama, Tral-i-Payeen and at various Anganwadi Centres across the district, where officers and resource persons interacted with participants and highlighted the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of collective responsibility in curbing the menace.

Meanwhile, a padyatra was organised at Litter which commenced from Government Higher Secondary School Litter and culminated near J&K Bank Litter. The padyatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of civil society, Auqaf Committees, trade union members, students, youth, local residents and officials of various departments.

Further, an awareness session and padyatra were also organised by SHG members at Arigam Pulwama to sensitise the public about the harmful consequences of drug abuse and promote community participation in the anti-drug campaign.

Besides, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama continued a variety of activities across different zones of the district under the campaign.

In Zone Pulwama, a zonal-level football tournament was organised at HSS Karimabad, while chart exhibitions were conducted at HS Malangpora and UPS Chewakalan. A zonal-level table tennis competition for girls was also organised at GHSS Pulwama.

In Zone Tahab, chart exhibitions and awareness programmes were conducted at HSS Litter, UPS Tumlehal and UPS Ladermar, while basketball and tug of war competitions were organised at HSS Achan. Badminton competitions were held at Arihal and chess competitions at UPS Khellan.

In Zone Pampore, seminars, awareness programmes on drug abuse and chart exhibitions were organised at GHSS Khrew in collaboration with Police Administration Pampore. Similarly, Zone Tral hosted a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programme at FVMS Tral, while Zone Awantipora conducted a zonal-level badminton competition for girls.

Before the commencement of each event, participants took part in Nasha Mukt Pledge pledging to work collectively towards building a healthy, drug-free and prosperous Pulwama.

The activities form part of the district administration’s efforts to involve all sections of society in combating drug abuse and strengthening public awareness across Pulwama district.
