Ganderbal, 25 June: In a major step towards ensuring foolproof security for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, Ganderbal Police on Thursday conducted a comprehensive high-intensity Joint Mock Drill at Malshahi Bagh, Sonamarg Z-Morh Tunnel, and along the National Highway at Gund on the Yatra route.
The large-scale exercise was meticulously planned to assess the operational readiness, coordination, and rapid response capabilities of all security and emergency agencies in handling any unforeseen situation during the annual pilgrimage.
The mock drill simulated multiple emergency scenarios, including terror-related incidents, medical emergencies, evacuation operations, stampede-like situations, natural disasters, and crowd management challenges.
The exercise witnessed the active participation of J&K Police, the Army, CAPFs, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, the Health Department, and the Civil Administration, showcasing seamless inter-agency coordination and a unified approach towards ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims.
Special emphasis was laid on vulnerable stretches and strategically important locations where swift intervention is critical. Participating teams rehearsed emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, communication protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance preparedness for real-time contingencies.
Senior officers of Ganderbal Police closely monitored the drill, reviewed the preparedness of the participating teams, and issued necessary directions to further strengthen the security grid and operational efficiency.
Reaffirming its commitment to a safe and peaceful pilgrimage, Ganderbal Police said all necessary measures are being taken to provide devotees with a secure, hassle-free, and well-coordinated Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 while maintaining peace, safety, and public order throughout the Yatra period.
