Three-Day Cyber Awareness Programme Commences at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rainawari

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir | A three-day Cyber Awareness Programme commenced on 7th, 8th and 10th August at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Rainawari, with the objective of strengthening cyber awareness, promoting safe digital practices, and equipping students and members of the school community with the knowledge and skills required to navigate the digital environment safely and responsibly.

The programme is being organized by I3C, IIT Jammu, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir, and NSS, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rainawari. The programme is being coordinated by Gowhar Khursheed, NSS Programme Officer & Coordinator, under the guidance of the Principal, GHSS Rainawari. Ms. Maleeha Nayyar, Activity Coordinator, and Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, CNO, played an active role in the organization and smooth conduct of the programme, supporting the coordination of activities and encouraging student participation throughout the sessions.

The programme is being conducted in compliance with the communication issued by the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir, vide No. EDU/PD/SmS/Digital Initiatives/1794-1803/2026-27 dated 03-08-2026, as part of the broader Cyber Awareness cum Hygiene initiative being implemented across the Union Territory.

As part of the Cyber First Responder/Master Trainer and Cyber Awareness cum Hygiene Programme, an orientation session was conducted by Mr. Sheikh Inayatullah, Chief Consultant, Cyber Security Program, I3C-IIT Jammu, who briefed the participants on the objectives of the programme, the activities planned under the initiative, and the roles and responsibilities of CNOs and SNOs in ensuring effective implementation, coordination, outreach, and reporting of the programme.

The programme witnessed participation from students, teaching and non-teaching staff of GHSS Rainawari, Cluster School Nodal Officers, and other members of the school community. The participants were sensitized about emerging cyber threats, including online frauds, phishing, scams, identity theft, misuse of personal information, password-related risks, and other forms of cybercrime.

The sessions also focused on practical aspects of cyber hygiene, protection of personal and digital information, creation and management of strong passwords, identification of suspicious online activities, responsible use of digital platforms, and appropriate mechanisms for reporting cyber incidents. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, participants will be encouraged to adopt safer digital practices and contribute towards spreading cyber awareness within their families and communities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal, GHSS Rainawari, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of developing cyber awareness among students, teachers, and the wider school community. The Principal also appreciated the collaborative efforts of I3C, IIT Jammu, Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir, and NSS, GHSS Rainawari in creating a culture of responsible and secure digital behaviour.

The three-day programme at GHSS Rainawari will continue with a series of awareness, sensitization, and capacity-building activities, reinforcing the message that cyber safety is not merely a technical requirement but an essential life skill for every digital citizen.
