Food & Drugs Administration, J&K continues Enforcement Drive across the Union Territory

190 Inspections Conducted; 181 Food Samples Lifted For Testing

Srinagar, Aug 11: Continuing its enforcement activities across the Union Territory to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, Food Safety Officers of the FDA J&K conducted inspections of food establishments across the various districts of J&K. During the enforcement drive, 190 inspections were conducted across all districts and 181 food samples were lifted for quality and safety testing. The samples included 47 samples of Ice Cream, 53 samples of Food Grains and Pluses, 35 samples of Fruit Beverages, 23 samples of Dairy Products, 21 samples of Meat Products and 2 samples of Bread. The food samples lifted during the drive have been forwarded to the concerned Food Testing Laboratories for analysis as per the prescribed standards.

The inspections and sampling activities were conducted across the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian.

The inspections were carried out at food establishments to check compliance with the prescribed requirements relating to food safety, quality, hygiene and sanitation.

The Food & Drugs Administration, J&K, will continue inspections, sampling and other enforcement measures under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, to ensure compliance with the prescribed food safety standards.
