Srinagar, 24th August 2024: Today, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), under the chairmanship of Director Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, hosted an interactive session featuring some of the country’s foremost Clinicians and scientists. These eminent speakers are in Srinagar to participate in the two-day “Inter-University Academic Brainstorming,” jointly organized by SKIMS and SKUAST-K.
The interactive session took place at the SKIMS Auditorium and provided a unique platform for SKIMS faculty to engage with these distinguished experts from various domains. Among the esteemed guests were Dr. N. K. Mehra, Vice President (International Affairs), INSA and Former Dean, AIIMS New Delhi; Dr. Abdul Masood Khan, Director in charge of ICMR-JALMA; Mr. A. K Pradhaan, Advisor, CDSCO; Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director, IIT Kanpur; Dr. Anu Raghunathan, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-NCL Pune; Dr. Bushra Ateeq, Professor & Joy-Gill Chair, Senior Fellow DBT-Welcome Trust India Alliance; and Dr. M. Jamal, Principal Scientist, CSIR-IIIM Jammu.
Dr. M. Ashraf Ganie, Director SKIMS, warmly welcomed esteemed guests, offering insightful perspectives into SKIMS’s pivotal role in patient care and cutting-edge research. Emphasizing SKIMS’s stature as a premier institution in the nation, Dr. Ganie underscored its preparedness for fostering robust national and international collaborations. He highlighted the institute’s proactive stance in promoting extensive networking and knowledge exchange among institutions worldwide. He further announced the imminent circulation of formal MoUs aimed at facilitating exchange programs with visiting institutes to yield mutual benefits through collaborative research projects, enriching student exchanges, and fostering faculty collaborations. Dr. Ganie’s vision for SKIMS positions it as a hub of innovation and collaboration, poised to drive advancements in healthcare and academic excellence on a global scale.
During the session, esteemed scientists and experts enthusiastically participated in discussions, sharing valuable perspectives and emphasizing collaborative opportunities. Key focal points included critical areas such as clinical trials by establishing clinical trial unit (CTRU), biomedical research advancements, organ transplantation innovations, and patient-centric initiatives. The interactive forum served as a catalyst for forging joint ventures aimed at advancing healthcare solutions and improving patient outcomes. The experts emphasized on to intensify research efforts in the fields of cancer, leprosy, tuberculosis, and other priority areas like various types of cancers, exploring new treatment modalities, early detection methods, and personalized medicine approaches.
Dr. Shariq R. Masoodi, Dean Medical Faculty SKIMS facilitated the session with grace and expertise, he introduced the distinguished guests, acknowledging their significant roles and expressing heartfelt appreciation for their invaluable contributions. He ensured a seamless flow of discussions and fostered an environment conducive to meaningful exchanges among esteemed participants.
The session saw participation from SKIMS faculty members, heads of departments, paramedic staff, postdoctoral researchers, postgraduates, PhD scholars, and other students.
