Awantipora, December 21: The Awantipora Police today commenced a verification drive on SIM card vendors across the police district. An official spokesperson confirmed that the operation aims to ensure that SIM cards are being issued in accordance with judicial procedures.

The drive was launched to confirm that SIM cards are being distributed lawfully and are not at risk of misuse. “This verification exercise is crucial to ensure that all SIM cards issued are done so judicially, following the proper regulatory guidelines,” the official said.

The police emphasized that such drives are necessary to prevent potential misuse of SIM cards, which could be used for illegal activities. The verification process will also examine the compliance of vendors with regulations that require proper documentation and identity verification during SIM card issuance.

Authorities assured the public that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain security and prevent misuse of communication networks. The official added that similar verification drives would continue to be conducted in the future to ensure safety and accountability within the district.
