Pulwama Joins Nationwide NAKSHA Launch

Pulwama, February 18: The District Administration Pulwama participated in the nationwide launch of the pilot programme, the National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA), at Lal Ded Auditorium, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora. MC Awantipora was among the 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across 26 States and 3 Union Territories (UTs) shortlisted for the launch.

The programme was launched by the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Government of India, Sh. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, at Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. It was implemented across 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 26 States and 3 Union Territories (UTs), with participants at Awantipora joining the session virtually.

The event featured awareness campaigns highlighting the program’s role in modernizing land management. Technical experts provided insights into the necessity of geospatial technologies in urban planning and land record management

In Awantipora , the event was graced by MLA Tral, Rafiq Ahmad Naikoo and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama. It also witnessed the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Awantipora, SP Awantipora, officials from the Revenue and Municipal departments, the Registrar and faculty members of IUST as well as other allied departments and local citizens.

The NAKSHA program aims to create and update land records in urban areas to ensure accurate and reliable documentation of land ownership. This initiative is set to empower citizens, improve ease of living, enhance urban planning and reduce land-related disputes. The IT-based system for property record administration will foster transparency, efficiency and support sustainable development.
