Ganderbal Police Seizes 18 Vehicles in Major Crackdown on Illegal Mineral Extraction

Ganderbal, 24 Mar: In a determined crackdown on illegal mining activities, Ganderbal Police has seized 18 vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals over the past two weeks. The intensified drive, aimed at safeguarding natural resources and enforcing the law, was carried out in collaboration with the Geology and Mining Department.

The vehicles were intercepted and seized from various locations across the district, including Ganderbal, Kheerbawani, Kangan, Lar, Safapora, and Nagbal. These areas have recently witnessed increased surveillance as part of the district police’s focused campaign against illegal mining operations.

Officials confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the offenders involved. The action reflects Ganderbal Police’s unwavering commitment to curbing the unlawful exploitation of mineral resources and sending a stern message to those engaged in such practices.

“District Police Ganderbal, in close coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, is taking all necessary steps to put an end to illegal mining. Strict action under law will be taken against violators,” a police spokesperson said.

Police also urged the public to play their part in protecting the environment by reporting any illegal mining activities in their vicinity. Ganderbal Police assured that the identity of informers will be kept confidential and promised strict legal action against offenders.

This operation stands as a strong warning to illegal miners and transporters that Ganderbal Police will continue its efforts to protect the district’s natural resources.
