Srinagar, April 7: A significant event marking Health Day was organized today at 11:00 AM in the Auditorium of Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), Bemina. The event witnessed the active participation of esteemed dignitaries, professionals, students, and the general public, highlighting the collective commitment to promoting health awareness and inclusivity in healthcare.
Dr. Yasmeen, Deputy Director Headquarters, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The program was presided over by Professor (Dr.) Fazulul Qadir Parray, Principal, SKIMS Medical College, who was the Chief Guest. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between government institutions and civil society organizations in strengthening healthcare delivery, especially for the differently-abled and underprivileged sections of society.
A series of impactful cultural and awareness-based performances were showcased by the students of Shafaqat Special School, managed by VMS, and the dedicated team from the Department of Physiotherapy. The performances not only highlighted the talents of these specially-abled children but also sent a powerful message about inclusivity, resilience, and the therapeutic role of arts in rehabilitation.
President and Founder of VMS, Prof. Dr. Mir Mohammad Maqbool, addressed the gathering, highlighting the organization’s enduring commitment to serving differently-abled and underprivileged communities through rehabilitation, education, and medical care. He called for greater support and awareness to ensure a healthier, more inclusive society.
Speaking on the occasion, both Dr. Yasmeen and Prof. Fazlul Qadir Parray lauded the efforts of Voluntary Medicare Society in providing holistic healthcare, rehabilitation, and educational services to the most vulnerable sections of society. They stressed the need for sustained public-private partnerships to ensure healthcare reaches every doorstep, particularly those who need it the most.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Secretary Er Mushtaq Ahmad Malik and a pledge to continue the mission of health awareness, community care, and inclusivity in every sphere of life.
