Bandipora: In a landmark achievement for the District Hospital Bandipora, the first-ever laparoscopic appendectomy was successfully performed, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s surgical capabilities.
The procedure was carried out by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Cheechak, Consultant Surgeon, with support from Dr. Iqbal, Consultant Anaesthesia, and Mr. Mehmood ul Rehman, O.T. Technician and other theatre staff also played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the surgery.
Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani, Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora, appreciated the entire surgical team for their dedication and professionalism. He termed the successful operation a step forward in improving advanced healthcare services in the district.
“This achievement reflects our commitment to providing quality and minimally invasive surgical care to the people of Bandipora,” Dr. Wani said.
The introduction of laparoscopic procedures at the hospital is expected to benefit patients with reduced recovery time, minimal scarring, and fewer complications.
