Ganderbal, July 19(SM):In a rigorous crackdown on traffic violations, the ARTO Ganderbal—acting on the directives of the Worthy Transport Commissioner of J&K—conducted a wide-scale enforcement operation across the district, checking over 350 vehicles and issuing e-challans to 67 for violating various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The drive targeted multiple serious violations. These included:
41 cases of driving without speed-limiting devices
11 cases of not wearing seatbelts
8 cases of overloading passengers
2 cases of riding without helmets
1 case of driving without valid insurance
4 other miscellaneous violations
Officials estimate a total penalty collection of ₹1.05 lakh from the booked offenders, underlining the administration’s firm stance on enforcing road safety norms.
In a stern warning to habitual violators, authorities also seized 25 driving licenses, 4 route permits, and 1 vehicle registration certificate for further suspension or cancellation.
The enforcement team emphasized that such drives will be conducted regularly to ensure road discipline, prevent accidents, and safeguard public lives throughout the Ganderbal district.(SM)
