Kulgam, July 27: Kulgam Police—under the leadership of SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal (IPS)—have initiated the attachment of property belonging to a drug peddler, Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, resident of Zadoora, Mirbazar. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Farooq Ahmad Mir has been implicated in two separate NDPS cases:
FIR No. 85/2020 at Police Station Mattan, registered under Sections 8, 15, and 29 of the NDPS Act.
FIR No. 104/2025 at Police Station Qazigund, registered under Sections 8 and 15 of the NDPS Act.
Following investigations and based on credible evidence, proceedings under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act were initiated by the competent authority. This section allows for the attachment of properties believed to be acquired through the proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
As a result, a single-storey residential structure measuring approximately 850 square feet, along with 12 marlas of land situated in Zadoora, Mirbazar (Khewat No. 3), was identified and attached. The estimated market value of the property is around ₹65 lakhs.
Police officials emphasized that this action is part of an intensified crackdown on drug peddlers in the region. “We are committed to not only prosecuting offenders but also dismantling the financial foundations of the drug trade,” a police spokesperson stated (Press Release).
