Directorate of School Education Kashmir Mourns the Demise of Former Commissioner-Secretary G.A. Peer

Srinagar, August 4: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir expresses its profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of Mr. G.A. Peer, a distinguished former Commissioner-Secretary to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. A seasoned and visionary bureaucrat, Mr. Peer served the Union Territory with distinction from 1977 across several pivotal administrative roles during his illustrious civil service career.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo, described late G.A. Peer Sahab as a man of rare dedication, humility, and intellect, who always remained connected with the grassroots and was deeply committed to the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“G.A. Peer was an officer of impeccable integrity and a reservoir of knowledge whose sincerity and tireless work ethic made him one of the most respected officers in our administration. His ability to empathize with the people and resolve their concerns with sensitivity set him apart. With his demise, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir has lost one of its finest public servants,” Dr. Itoo said.

To pay homage to the departed soul, a condolence meeting was convened today at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir. The solemn gathering was attended by officers and staff of the Directorate who recalled Mr. Peer’s outstanding contributions to public administration and his inspiring legacy of leadership, simplicity, and service.

The entire staff of the Directorate joined in conveying their deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, especially to his wife, Mrs. Peer, and his sons, noted journalist and author Mr. Basharat Peer and Mr. Wajahat Peer. They prayed for eternal peace to the noble soul and strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss.

“His legacy will continue to inspire generations of civil servants in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Directorate noted in its message.
