Srinagar – August 24, 2025: Renowned writer, poet, and thinker Dr. Satish Vimal has been conferred with the prestigious Khillat-e-Balkhi (Balkhi Memorial Award) 2025, an annual honour bestowed by the Nowsoz People’s Foundation in Pakherpora. The award recognizes exceptional contributions in the field of Sufi-Rishi studies and intellectual traditions.
The Khillat-e-Balkhi is awarded annually in the revered memory of Sufi Saint Sultan Ali Aali Balkhi, whose shrine is located in Pakherpora. This year, the award jury unanimously selected Dr. Vimal for his extensive and research-driven work on Kashmir’s spiritual and literary heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, G. M. Nousoze, President of the Nowsoz People’s Foundation, praised Dr. Vimal’s “significant and unparalleled literary contributions,” noting that his scholarly efforts have deepened public understanding of the region’s spiritual traditions and Sufi-Rishi culture.
The award ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent scholars, intellectuals, senior citizens, and religious figures from across the Kashmir Valley, all gathered to honour Dr. Vimal’s achievements and lifelong dedication to the literary and spiritual legacy of the region.
