Ganderbal, September 05: In a decisive move to safeguard public health, Ganderbal Police have registered two FIRs against individuals involved in selling rotten meat and expired food items at separate locations in the district.

Police said they had received reliable information about the sale of unhygienic frozen meat at Kondabal, Safapora. Acting swiftly, a team from Police Station Safapora, accompanied by the Food Safety Officer Ganderbal and the Executive Magistrate, inspected the shop owned by Abdul Hameed Lone, son of Abdul Hameed, resident of Kondabal.

In another instance, Police Station Ganderbal acted on information regarding the use of expired eatables at Hotel Matamal Food Sale Point, Beehama.
