Warwan Valley, September 30, 2025: In a compassionate response to the devastating cloudburst that struck Margi Village in Warwan Valley on the intervening night of August 26, 2025, the Crisis Relief Team of CHINAR International conducted a comprehensive relief distribution drive to support the affected families.

The flash floods caused extensive damage to residential properties and livestock, leaving the local community in distress. While no lives were lost, the destruction was significant: approximately 190 houses were damaged, including 50 fully destroyed, and 45 cattle were buried under debris. “Everything got washed away. We could barely save ourselves from the rushing waters, but all our property, livestock, and houses are gone. We had no time to save our belongings,” shared a local resident.

The cloudbursts also damaged roads and bridges, making access to the village extremely challenging. After multiple attempts, CHINAR International’s Crisis Relief Team conducted an assessment visit to Margi Village on September 11 to evaluate the situation and identify the community’s immediate needs. The assessment revealed that out of 224 houses, around 50 were fully destroyed, 130–140 severely damaged, and the remainder partially affected.

“The Crisis Relief Team made an emergency trip to carry out a rapid survey to ensure timely assistance reaches the community. During the visit, we interacted with locals, affected families, and volunteers to develop an appropriate intervention plan,” said, Mozam Guru, Lead Procurement and Operations at CHINAR International.

Following the assessment, the team delivered relief supplies to Margi Village on September 25, 2025. Essential items, including grocery supplies, kitchenware, and warm bedding, were distributed to 48 affected families to meet their immediate needs.

“We provided essential supplies based on the urgent requirements of the families. However, the village will require long-term support, especially with winter approaching, as heavy snowfall could hinder relief efforts,” Guru added.
