Tral, October 5, 2025 — Apni Party leader and DDC member from Tral, Dr. Singh, today met with representatives of the Nowdal Fruit Mandi to discuss the long-pending issue of land transfer required for the development of a full-fledged fruit mandi in the region.
During the meeting, the representatives expressed their concerns over the delay in transferring the identified land, despite the horticulture department already allocating funds for the project. They requested Dr. Singh to intervene and ensure that the process is expedited.
Dr. Singh assured the delegation of his personal and party’s full support for this crucial demand. He emphasized the significance of the Nowdal Fruit Mandi project for the region, stating that it has the potential to provide employment opportunities to thousands of youth and significantly boost the local fruit industry.
Currently, the mandi lacks basic infrastructure and essential facilities, including electricity, water supply, sanitation, internet connectivity, and proper workspaces. Traders are operating in makeshift tin sheds, which hampers productivity and efficiency.
Dr. Singh made a fervent appeal to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister, concerned ministers, and the revenue department to intervene and ensure the early and fruitful resolution of this long-pending issue.
“The Fruit Mandi at Nowdal, Tral is not just a local demand but a regional necessity. Timely action can transform it into a hub for economic growth and employment,” said Dr. Singh.
