Srinagar: Shafqat Iqbal, Special Secretary to the Government, Higher Education Department, accompanied by the Director Colleges, on Friday conducted a surprise visit to Government Degree College (GDC) Hyderpora on Friday to review ongoing developmental works and assess academic functioning.
The dignitaries were warmly received by the Principal and college staff, who extended a cordial welcome with bouquets as a gesture of respect and appreciation. During the visit, the officers inspected the newly constructed main building, which is set to be inaugurated and made functional in the coming weeks. They also took stock of various infrastructure projects and campus development initiatives currently underway.
Iqbal and the Director Colleges interacted with both permanent and contractual faculty members to gather feedback on enhancing the quality of higher education and ensuring transparency in the recruitment of academic arrangement staff.
The Principal briefed the visiting officers on the progress made by the institution, highlighting the swift completion of major infrastructure projects and improvements in academic and administrative functioning. The visiting dignitaries lauded the Principal and staff for their dedication and collective efforts in transforming the college within a short period.
The Principal also apprised the officers of several challenges faced by the institution, to which the Special Secretary and the Director Colleges assured timely intervention and redressal.
In his concluding remarks, the Principal expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Shafqat Iqbal and the Director Colleges for their visit, encouragement, and continued support toward the overall development of Government Degree College Hyderpora.
