Seminar on “Promotion, Conservation, Cultivation, and Entrepreneurship Development of Medicinal Plants” held at KVK Pulwama

Pulwama: A one-day seminar on “Promotion, Conservation, Cultivation, and Entrepreneurship Development of Medicinal Plants” was organized by the Directorate of AYUSH, Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Malangpora, Pulwama, on 22nd October 2025 at the KVK campus.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. & Head, KVK Pulwama, Dr. Javeed Ahmad Migloo, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants and briefed the gathering about the objectives, scope, and relevance of the programme in the context of sustainable livelihood enhancement through medicinal plant cultivation.

The seminar was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Awantipora; Dr. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension; Dr. Farooq Ahmad Nakabandi, District Nodal Officer; and several other officers from line departments. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of conservation, value addition, and entrepreneurship development in the medicinal plant sector to enhance farmers’ income and promote biodiversity.

The event witnessed active participation from a large number of farmers, representatives of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and members of Self Help Groups (SHGs), who showed keen interest in the deliberations and interactive sessions focusing on cultivation practices, marketing linkages, and policy support mechanisms related to medicinal plants.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Ganie, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, officers, and participants for their valuable contributions and active participation, which made the event a grand success.
