Ganderbal, Oct 24: In a strict enforcement drive against violations of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, Ganderbal Police have booked three hotel owners in the popular tourist destination of Sonamarg for failing to register foreign guests with the authorities.
Under the supervision of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), Police Station Sonamarg conducted thorough inspections of hotels in the area. The checks revealed that Hotel Mount View, Hotel Emperor Resort, and Hotel Village Walk had hosted foreign tourists without submitting their details to the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) within the mandated time frame, in violation of Section 17 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
Consequently, the police registered three separate FIRs FIR Nos. 25/2025, 26/2025, and 27/2025 — under Section 8/23(b) of the Act against the respective hotel owners for non-compliance.
A police spokesperson emphasized that all hoteliers and guesthouse operators across Ganderbal district must strictly follow FRO reporting guidelines to avoid legal consequences.
The action underscores Ganderbal Police’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws, maintaining accountability, and ensuring transparency in the hospitality sector, particularly in high-footfall tourist zones like Sonamarg.
