GANDERBAL, NOV 10(SM): In a major crackdown against the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, the Ganderbal Police detained 39 individuals during a series of coordinated raids across multiple locations in the district, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the searches were carried out at the residences of J&K Nationals Operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (JKNOPs) and surrendered or former militants. Following credible inputs indicating their involvement in activities detrimental to public peace and security, all 39 were detained under preventive measures and lodged in Dignibal Jail.
Senior officers of Ganderbal Police led the operation, which was aimed at dismantling local support networks allegedly aiding anti-national elements. Several digital devices and other incriminating materials were also recovered during the raids and sent for forensic analysis, officials added.
Police said that the action forms part of a broader strategy to neutralise terror-linked networks and prevent the radicalisation of local youth.
“Ganderbal Police remains committed to maintaining peace and harmony in the district and urges the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies to strengthen the collective fight against terrorism,” a police spokesperson said.(SM)
