New Delhi, 11 November: The National Child Development Council (NCDC) Core Committee recently held a meeting to discuss the importance of spending quality time with family for emotional well-being and social harmony. Several core members attended, highlighting the growing need for work-life balance and stronger family connections in today’s society.

One committee member pointed out that busy professionals, including businesspeople, doctors, and teachers, often overlook family time due to their hectic schedules. He explained that this lack of engagement can lead to emotional distance within families and behavioral issues in children. He suggested that schools should teach the importance of family bonding from an early age to instill these values in children.

After his presentation, another member explained how professional stress and long hours cause emotional strain in families, often leading to separations and depression. She urged parents to leave their work stress at the office and develop healthy habits that allow them to relax and interact meaningfully with their families. “Even a few minutes of genuine connection can make a big difference in keeping a happy home,” she said.

A third member shared her view, emphasizing that both working and non-working individuals must focus on time management and communication within families. She highlighted that love and attention cannot be replaced by financial comfort or outside caretakers. “If parents don’t spend time with their children, they might seek emotional connection elsewhere,” she warned, recommending weekly family activities and shared meals to strengthen bonds.

To conclude the discussion, a member of NCDC summarized that the quality of time spent with family is more important than the quantity. She mentioned that genuine communication, emotional understanding, and respect for personal space are essential for maintaining healthy relationships. She also recounted a touching story of a child offering his father money to buy one hour of his time, showing the emotional void that can come from work-focused lifestyles.

The meeting ended with a unanimous agreement recognizing family time as a key part of emotional health, moral growth, and child development. The committee committed to promoting awareness programs and educational modules that encourage family bonding and mental well-being.

The NCDC Core Committee renewed its dedication to supporting family development as the basis for a strong and balanced society.
