Ganderbal, Jan 5(SM): Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have taken preventive action against 11 persons for allegedly using virtual private network (VPN) services unauthorisedly, in violation of orders issued by the district administration, officials said.
The action was taken by Ganderbal Police during routine verification drives conducted in the jurisdictions of Police Station Ganderbal and Police Station Kangan, they said.
An official said the individuals were found using VPN services in contravention of directives issued by the District Magistrate, Ganderbal. Consequently, istigasa proceedings under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were initiated and produced before the concerned Executive Magistrates.
“The persons were bound down under Section 126 of the BNSS to maintain good behaviour,” the official said.
Police warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating lawful orders and appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace, cyber security and public order in the district.(SM)
