The inspection was carried out by a team comprising officials from the police, the Executive Magistrate and the Food Safety Department.

During the drive, several food business establishments dealing with essential commodities and other consumables were inspected. The team checked for proper display of rate lists, quality of food items and hygienic conditions inside the establishments.

Shopkeepers and vendors were directed to strictly adhere to government regulations, maintain transparency in pricing and avoid overcharging customers. They were also advised to maintain sanitation and provide quality goods to consumers, especially during the ongoing festive period.

Officials warned that sale of substandard food items or violation of government norms will invite strict legal action. Authorities added that similar drives will continue across the district to ensure market discipline and protect consumer rights.(SM)
