Pulwama: A cleanliness and environmental awareness drive was successfully conducted by One World Aid in the saffron fields of Munpora and Pampore. The initiative aimed at preserving the ecological and cultural significance of the region, particularly its world-renowned saffron heritage. During the drive, volunteers actively participated in collecting waste scattered across the fields, which was later responsibly disposed of at designated dumping sites. The campaign focused not only on cleaning but also on spreading awareness among local residents, farmers, and youth regarding environmental responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Member Faisal Bilal stated that citizens must play an active and responsible role in protecting their land. He emphasized that whether it is saffron fields or any other natural resource, it belongs collectively to the people and must not be polluted. He further highlighted that saffron is not just a crop but a symbol of Pampore’s identity and heritage. He also referenced ongoing national and regional initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Polythene Free Jammu & Kashmir, noting that such grassroots efforts help translate these missions into meaningful action at the ground level.

Executive Member Irfan Ramzan observed that waste accumulation in the fields had increased after Eid celebrations. He explained that the primary goal of the drive was to educate the public about maintaining cleanliness and protecting saffron land, which defines Pampore’s identity. He also underlined that religious teachings across traditions encourage respect for nature, environmental balance, and biodiversity.

Another Executive Member, Tanveer Ahmad Rather, welcomed the growing number of tourists visiting the region and acknowledged the positive impact of increased visibility. However, he appealed to visitors to act responsibly and avoid polluting the natural surroundings, emphasizing that preservation of such landscapes is a shared duty.

Other members, including Manpreet Singh and Shahid Ahmad, also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation through both civic responsibility and religious values.

The organization extended its heartfelt gratitude to all team members and volunteers whose efforts ensured the success of the drive.
