Srinagar (Press Release): Senior Congress leader and Member AICC, Surinder Singh Channi, has urged the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure adequate supply of essential commodities during the auspicious festival of Baisakhi.
In a statement issued today, Channi said that Baisakhi is celebrated with great devotion by the Sikh community for three days, during which Gurdwaras organize continuous Langars serving thousands of people. He expressed concern over the shortage of gas cylinders and irregular power supply, which are causing inconvenience during this sacred occasion.
He appealed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha Ji, along with the local administration, to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas cylinders, electricity, and other essential services across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in areas with a significant Sikh population.
Channi emphasized that the Sikh community has always contributed positively to society and remains committed to the nation. He added that timely arrangements would not only facilitate smooth celebration of the festival but also reinforce a sense of inclusion, respect, and equal treatment among the community.
He urged the authorities to treat the matter with urgency so that the festival is observed with dignity and without any hardship (PR).
