G.V.E.I Triumphs at Inter-School Debate on Morality and Artificial Intelligence

Srinagar, April 11: Reaffirming its commitment to fostering intellectual growth and ethical awareness, Green Valley Educational Institute (G.V.E.I), Ellahi Bagh, successfully hosted a prestigious inter-school debate competition on “Morality and Artificial Intelligence: Can Code Be Conscience?”

Marking a landmark initiative, G.V.E.I. hosted a first-of-its-kind debate, drawing participation from eight leading schools across Kashmir. Students engaged in discussions on ethical decision-making in AI, algorithmic bias, human oversight, and the societal impact of machine-led decisions.

In a closely contested competition, Numan Imtiyaz of G.V.E.I secured the first position. The second position was awarded to Mohammad Raamin from Crescent Public School, Naseem Bagh, while Khan Asmat of Birla Open Minds, Pampore, secured the third position.

Dr. Javaid Iqbal, Head of the Department, Computer Sciences, University of Kashmir was the chief guest of the event. Dr. Veningston K., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT was the guest of honour.

In their addresses, both dignitaries highlighted the growing intersection of technology and ethics. They underscored that ‘true progress in artificial intelligence must be rooted in morality, guided by human values and a deep sense of moral responsibility.’
