DC Ganderbal reviews preparations for Padayatra under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan

GANDERBAL, MAY 05: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today chaired a meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Padayatra to be organised under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in the district.

At the outset, the DC took a comprehensive review of the arrangements being put in place for the event, which is expected to witness large public participation from across the district.

Emphasising the importance of coordinated efforts, he directed all departments to work in close synergy to ensure smooth conduct of the programme.

The meeting discussed in detail the logistical and infrastructural arrangements at the Qamaria Stadium, which will serve as the main venue, besides at Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where the culminatory event is scheduled.

Instructions were issued for the establishment of a well-organised stage, seating arrangements, and designated areas to facilitate orderly participation. The DC stressed that the venue should reflect proper planning and discipline, ensuring a comfortable and secure environment for all attendees.

On sanitation and hygiene, the Municipal Council Ganderbal was directed to ensure adequate installation of temporary convenience facilities and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the venue, in line with established protocols followed during major public events. Arrangements for drinking water (ROs) and other tanker services were also reviewed, and Jal Shakti department was tasked to ensure facilities for participants.

The DC underscored the need for an efficient transportation plan, directing the Assistant Regional Transport Officer to ensure smooth movement of participants. Traffic regulation measures were also discussed to avoid congestion and ensure hassle-free access to the venue.

Regarding public outreach, the Information Department was tasked with creating awareness material and campaign displays to enhance visibility of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. The DC also stressed active involvement of educational institutions, civil society groups, youth organisations and various stakeholders to ensure widespread participation and engagement.

Special focus was laid on the participation of students and youth, with directions issued to ensure their meaningful involvement in the programme. The DC highlighted the importance of such initiatives in building awareness and fostering a collective commitment towards a drug-free society.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements for refreshments, healthcare facilities, power backup and other essential services. Departments were instructed to ensure that all necessary provisions are made well in advance to avoid any inconvenience during the event.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the DC reiterated that the Padayatra would serve as a platform to mobilise the community and strengthen the message of a drug-free society. He called upon all departments to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and ensure that the programme is conducted in a well-organised and impactful manner.

Besides Senior Superintendent of Police, Sudhanshu Dhama and Additional District Development Commissioner, Manzoor Ahmad, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer SDA, Chief Executive Officer WMDA, Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Planning Officer, Sub-divisional Magistrate Kangan, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, and other officers and officials from various departments besides institutional heads and representatives of universities.
