Srinagar, May 12: Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) Sempora, Srinagar today organised a special programme on International Nurses Day to honour the contribution and selfless services of nurses in healthcare sector under the theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”.
The programme was held in the presence of Managing Director KMCH, Tausif Ahmad; Executive Director, Insha Qazi; Principal/Dean KMCH, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Khan; Medical Superintendent, Prof. Dr. Syed Mubasir; Heads of Departments, senior faculty members, Anthony Raphael, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, nursing staff, employees of KMCH and others.
While speaking on the occasion, Managing Director KMCH, Tausif Ahmad congratulated the nursing staff on the occasion of International Nurses Day and extended his best wishes to them.
He said nurses are the backbone of healthcare system and play a vital role in patient care and recovery. “Their dedication, compassion and selfless service are the true pillars of quality healthcare,” he said.
Tausif Ahmad reiterated the institution’s commitment towards promoting and strengthening nursing care for the betterment of patient services. “We will ensure that more training programmes and workshops are organised to enhance the professional skills and progress of nurses,” he added.
The Managing Director also urged the nursing staff to make the best use of the guidance and mentorship provided by the dedicated faculty members and doctors at the institution. “A skilled and motivated nursing workforce is essential for building a strong healthcare system,” he said.
Executive Director, Insha Qazi said the Nurses Day aims to recognise and appreciate the invaluable role played by nurses in healthcare settings. She said the occasion serves as a gesture of gratitude towards the nursing fraternity for their dedication, compassion and tireless service to humanity.
On the occasion, she urged the nurses to remain kind, compassionate and committed to their profession while following the ideals and example set by Florence Nightingale.
“Nursing is not just a profession but a noble service to humanity, and nurses must continue to work with dedication and empathy towards patients,” she said.
Principal/Dean KMCH, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Khan said that no healthcare system can function effectively without the invaluable contribution of nurses, who remain at the forefront of patient care and support.
He said nurses play a crucial role in ensuring quality healthcare services and act as a bridge between doctors and patients through their compassion, dedication and commitment towards patient welfare. He said KMCH proudly celebrates and salutes the nursing fraternity for their hard work, sincerity and selfless service towards humanity.
“Their dedication and sense of responsibility inspire the entire healthcare fraternity and contribute immensely towards strengthening patient care services,” he added.
A Nurses Day pledge was also administered and read aloud during the event. The nurses were also felicitated with gifts as a token of appreciation and recognition for their tireless efforts, hard work and invaluable contribution to the healthcare sector.
