VMS Organises Two-Day Career Awareness Workshop for Persons with Visual Impairment under the See A Million Campaign

Srinagar: Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), Srinagar, in collaboration with EnAble India, today inaugurated a two-day Career Awareness Workshop for Persons with Visual Impairment under the See A Million Campaign at the VMS Auditorium.

The workshop has brought together 25 participants with visual impairment from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir to explore inclusive career opportunities, develop career awareness, and strengthen their aspirations for higher education, employment, and self-reliance.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Mir Mohammad Maqbool, Founder of Voluntary Medicare Society, Prof. Masooda Yaseen, vice president VMS, Dr. Farooq A. Kaloo, Secretary, VMS, and Er. Majid A. Balla, Director VMS who encouraged the participants to pursue their goals with confidence, determination, and perseverance.

The dignitaries emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive society where persons with visual impairment have equal access to education, skill development, and meaningful employment opportunities.

The workshop aims to raise awareness about diverse career pathways, government employment opportunities, competitive examinations, higher education, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and the support systems available for the persons with visually impaired. Through expert sessions, motivational talks, and interactive discussions, participants are being equipped with the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed career choices.

A major highlight of the first day was an inspiring motivational session by Irfan A. Lone, who recently cleared the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination. Sharing his journey of perseverance, dedication, and hard work, he motivated the participants to dream big and prepare strategically for competitive examinations and professional success.

The workshop will also feature expert sessions by Ruhi Jan, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, University of Kashmir, and Vinod Kumar Singh from Composite Regional Centre Srinagar, who will interact with participants on inclusive education, career planning, rehabilitation services, and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The programme is being organised under the See A Million Campaign, an initiative supported by EnAble India to empower persons with visual impairment through awareness, skill development, digital inclusion, and enhanced access to education and livelihood opportunities. The campaign seeks to build confidence, promote independence, and enable individuals with visual impairment to become nation builders.
