He holds an MBBS and MD in General Medicine, followed by a DM in Clinical Haematology & Blood and Marrow Transplantation, equipping him with specialised training in the management of complex blood diseases and advanced haematological care.

The addition of a dedicated Clinical Haematology and Blood and Marrow Transplant specialist is expected to provide an important boost to the region’s healthcare ecosystem, particularly for patients who require timely diagnosis, specialised evaluation and comprehensive treatment for serious blood-related illnesses.

Dr. Ishfaq Rashid will provide consultation and treatment for conditions including Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, congenital marrow failure disorders, anaemia, polycythaemia, immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), aplastic anaemia and haemolytic anaemia, among other haematological conditions.

The development comes as advanced and multidisciplinary healthcare services continue to expand at PARAS Health Srinagar, which offers specialised care across multiple disciplines and has been working towards strengthening tertiary healthcare access in the region.

Blood disorders often require highly specialised medical evaluation and long-term management. Conditions such as leukaemia, lymphoma, bone marrow failure and severe platelet disorders can be complex and demand coordinated care involving accurate diagnostics, specialist consultations and carefully planned treatment.

With Dr. Ishfaq Rashid joining the institution, patients and families in Kashmir will have greater access to specialised clinical expertise closer to home.

Dr. Murtuza Habib, Facility Director, PARAS Health Srinagar, said the appointment reflects the hospital’s continued commitment to expanding specialised healthcare services and bringing advanced medical expertise closer to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

“The addition of Dr. Ishfaq Rashid to our clinical team marks an important step in strengthening specialised haematology services at PARAS Health Srinagar. Blood disorders, particularly complex conditions such as leukaemia, lymphoma and bone marrow disorders, require timely diagnosis, specialised expertise and comprehensive care. Our endeavour is to ensure that patients from Kashmir and neighbouring regions have access to advanced medical expertise closer to home.”

Dr. Habib said PARAS Health Srinagar remains focused on building a strong multidisciplinary healthcare ecosystem capable of addressing increasingly complex medical needs.

“At PARAS Health, our vision is to continuously bridge critical gaps in specialised healthcare. The expansion of our clinical team reflects our commitment to quality, compassionate and patient-centric care. We are confident that Dr. Ishfaq Rashid’s specialised training and expertise in Clinical Haematology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation will further strengthen our ability to serve patients and their families,” he added.

PARAS Health Srinagar has continued to expand its specialised healthcare capabilities, including advanced tertiary services. The hospital’s recent milestones include receiving a Kidney Transplant Programme licence, reflecting its broader focus on strengthening access to complex and life-saving medical care within the region.

Dr. Ishfaq Rashid will be available for consultations from Monday to Saturday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Patients experiencing persistent symptoms such as unexplained anaemia, recurrent infections, abnormal bleeding, low platelet counts, unexplained fatigue or other concerns related to blood disorders are encouraged to seek timely medical advice.

With the addition of specialised Clinical Haematology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation services, PARAS Health Srinagar continues to advance its mission of bringing quality healthcare and specialised medical expertise closer to every Kashmiri family.
