Srinagar, Sep 21: A delegation of internationally renowned Kashmiri doctors, including Prof. (Dr.) Yousuf Kanjwal, a distinguished cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist, and Prof. (Dr.) Rafiq Sheikh, an accomplished gastroenterologist, visited Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), Sempora, Srinagar, on Monday.
An interactive session was held with the guests in the presence of Managing Director KMCH Tausif Ahmad, Executive Director Insha Qazi, Principal, KMC, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr Syed Mubashir, heads of various departments, faculty members, doctors and other healthcare professionals.
Welcoming the visiting doctors, Managing Director KMCH Tausif Ahmad said their presence provided an opportunity for doctors and healthcare professionals to benefit from their vast experience and expertise gained through their careers abroad.
He said the decision to name the institution Kashmir Medical College was aimed at creating an institution that would carry the name and identity of Kashmir globally, with students and doctors taking the institution’s name with them as they pursue careers around the world.
The Managing Director said the establishment of KMCH was also aimed at reducing the difficulties faced by Kashmiri students who travel outside the country for medical education.
He said the institution had brought together a team of experienced faculty, doctors and healthcare professionals with extensive clinical and academic expertise.
He said KMCH was committed to providing quality healthcare at affordable rates, with OPD consultation charges fixed at Rs 50, making healthcare accessible to people across different sections of society.
The visiting doctors toured various departments and facilities of the hospital and reviewed its state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced medical equipment and patient-care services.
After visiting various sections of the hospital and reviewing the equipment and facilities established for patient care, the visiting doctors described KMCH as a “jewel” and appreciated the modern infrastructure and advanced healthcare facilities developed at the institution.
They also lauded the choice of the name Kashmir Medical College and said the institution, with its modern infrastructure and range of facilities, could make a significant contribution to the development of healthcare in Kashmir.
The doctors appreciated the scale of infrastructure and facilities established at KMCH in a relatively short period and expressed their best wishes for the institution’s future growth and contribution to medical education and patient care.
