Kindness is one of the best qualities a person can have, whatever position he holds in life. If you are a principal, a manager, a doctor, a government officer, or the head of a company, never forget the days when you were struggling to reach where you are today. Remember the difficulties you faced and the people you needed during those days. Your position should never make you feel that you are greater than others. Always remember that time changes, and the person working under you today may reach a higher position tomorrow.
There is a well-known story about Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA), who is said to have helped an old, blind woman by taking care of her daily needs. Although the story is not reliably authenticated, it reminds us of an important lesson about kindness and humility. A person is not great only because of his position or power, but because of how he treats others. If you are in a position to help someone, do it with a kind heart. You do not need to show your power to prove that you are a leader. Sometimes, a few kind words can give someone more happiness than you can imagine.
If you are a principal, treat your teachers with respect. If you are a Deputy Commissioner, treat people from every town and village fairly. If you are a Tehsildar, listen to the problems of the people who come to your office. If you are a Block Medical Officer, understand the difficulties of the nursing staff. If you are a bank manager or the head of a company, treat your staff with patience and respect. Everyone has personal problems, family responsibilities, and struggles that we may not know about. You can maintain discipline and correct mistakes without being rude to anyone. Being kind does not make you weak; it shows the quality of your character.
Remember, people may forget your position, your office, and even your name with time, but they will never easily forget how you treated them. Never make someone feel small just because you have authority over them. Be kind to people, respect your staff, and remain humble even when you achieve great success. Life is not only about reaching a higher position; it is also about how many hearts you touch with your kindness. Always remember your difficult days and treat others the way you once wished to be treated. Be kind, be patient, and never allow your success to take away your humanity.
