SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 15: To enhance voter awareness and boost electoral participation ahead of the Assembly Elections 2024, a comprehensive SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) awareness programme was held today at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian.
The District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem, presided over the programme and emphasized the crucial role of SVEEP in fostering democracy.
He highlighted the responsibilities of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), asking them to strengthen voter participation by actively mobilizing voters in their areas, emphasizing the importance of electoral literacy, and communicating why every vote is vital for shaping the future of the district and the nation.
He also issued special directives for BLOs to work diligently viz a viz facilitation to voters especially motivating first time voters and helping the polling parties with lodging and boarding.
Additionally, he instructed them to collaborate with Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, and Village Level Workers (VLWs) effectively to support polling staff on pre and poll day.
The programme also featured a vibrant cultural event organized by local artists, whose performances underscored the significance of voting in a democracy. The cultural event not only entertained the attendees but also served as a dynamic platform for spreading the message of active electoral participation and civic responsibility.
The SVEEP programme concluded with a strong appeal to the public to engage actively in the upcoming elections, reaffirming that every vote contributes to the shaping of the district’s future.
