Srinagar, Feb 16: BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur has expressed deep concern over a raging forest fire in Tral, Pulwama, and has urged the government to take immediate action to bring the situation under control. He called upon the Forest Department and local administration to deploy all necessary resources to prevent further damage to the region’s rich biodiversity.

Thakur emphasized the ecological threat posed by forest fires, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas like Tral, which are home to diverse flora and fauna. He stressed the need for proactive firefighting measures, including the deployment of fire brigades, forest officials, and local volunteers to contain the blaze before it spreads further.

“The government must act swiftly to control the fire before it causes irreversible damage to the environment. Forests are our lifeline, and any negligence in addressing such disasters could lead to long-term ecological consequences,” Thakur stated.

Local residents have also raised alarms, urging authorities to implement long-term fire prevention strategies, such as early detection systems, firebreaks, and community involvement in forest protection.

The extent of the damage caused by the fire is yet to be fully assessed, and officials have not yet released a detailed statement on the response efforts. However, Thakur’s appeal has intensified demands for immediate intervention and a more structured approach to managing forest fires in Jammu and Kashmir.
