Voluntary Medicare Society Organizes Distribution of Saarthi Smart Canes and Mobility Devices for 200 Visually Impaired Persons

Ladakh Member of Parliament, Haji Hanifa Jan, along with Director General Border Roads (DGBR) Lt. General Raghu Srinivasan and Corps Commanders of 14 and 15 Corps, officially flagged off vehicular movement from Srinagar to Kargil.

Speaking to reporters, Lt. General Raghu Srinivasan praised the relentless efforts of BRO personnel, who braved harsh winter conditions to clear the pass. “Despite extreme weather and avalanche threats, our teams displayed unwavering dedication to ensuring an early reopening,” he stated.

Zojila Pass, a critical gateway to Ladakh, usually remains closed for several months in winter due to heavy snowfall and dangerous terrain. This year’s record clearance will facilitate smoother movement for both civilians and the armed forces, enhancing regional accessibility.

Lt. General Srinivasan commended the BRO workforce for their resilience and commitment. “Their hard work has once again demonstrated the importance of maintaining strategic infrastructure to support connectivity and national security,” he added.

The reopening of Zojila Pass marks a significant achievement in infrastructure management and strengthens logistical preparedness for any exigencies in the strategically important Ladakh region.
