Jammu Sept 19: The PG Department, University of Jammu, emerged champions of the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Men) Tournament 2025–26, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. The grand finale, held today at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, witnessed electrifying performances and intense competition as the top teams battled for the coveted title.

The final day of the tournament once again highlighted the true spirit of Kabaddi speed, strength and strategic brilliance. The participating teams thrilled the spectators with their exceptional agility, coordination and sportsmanship, keeping the traditional essence of the game alive.

Semi-Finals

The semi-final matches, played earlier in the day, were fiercely contested:

  • 1st Semi-final: PG Deptt. JU defeated GDC Kathua by 07 points.
  • 2nd Semi-final: MIET College defeated GDC Bhaderwah by 03 points.
  • In the third-place, GDC Kathua put up an impressive performance to defeat GDC Bhaderwah, thereby securing third position in the tournament. Their determined effort and consistent teamwork earned them a well-deserved place on the victory podium.

Grand Finale

In the final match, PG. Deptt. JU team displayed remarkable skill and tactical supremacy to outplay MIET College by 8 points, thereby lifting the championship trophy. Their all-round performance marked by rock-solid defense and swift raiding sealed a memorable victory.

The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education awarded the trophy and medals to the winner and runner-up teams, and appreciated the dedication and sportsmanship of all participating teams. The winners were specially congratulated for their outstanding achievement. The successful conduct of the tournament reinforced the University of Jammu’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing young talent.

Other Prominent faculty members and officials present on the occasion included Dr. Mandeep Singh, Dr. Vimal Kishore, Sh. Raj Kumar Bakshi, Sh. Ravish Vaid, Sh. Vikas Karlopia, Sh. Gagan Kumar, Sh. Jai Bharat, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Dr. Mahak, S. Harinderpal Singh, Ms. Richa Mandla, Mr. Rishiv Sharma, and Sh. Angraiz Singh, along with various officials and participants representing affiliated colleges of the University of Jammu. Their presence added significance to the event and reflected the collective commitment of the University towards promoting sports culture.

The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. His dedicated team ensured smooth conduct of the event with a strong emphasis on discipline, fair play and organizational excellence.

The technical panel for officiating the matches included Sh. Anil Sharma, Sh. Ajay Gupta, Sh. Dheeraj Sharma, Sh. Keshav Singh, S. Amandeep Singh, Sh. Raki Sharma and Sh. Gagan Kumar, whose professional expertise ensured that all matches were played in strict adherence to the rules of the game.
