CUKashmir holds blood donation camp

Ganderbal, Oct 1: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath Tuesday inaugurated one-day Blood donation Camp organised by the Health Centre and Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with Blood bank, Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar at Tulmulla Campus.

Organised under the flagship of Seva Parv-2025, the camp saw active participation of students, scholars, faculty members, administrative staff and others.

Registrar Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Dean DSW, Prof. Irfan Aalam,, Medical officers Dr. Sheeba Nazir, Dr Abid, and the team of Blood Bank led by Head of Department Blood Bank, GMC Srinagar Dr. Nighat were present.
The screening of donors was done and those fit for donating the blood were selected.
Over 61 pints of blood were collected during the camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, hailed the donors and encouraged others to come forward and contribute selflessly towards strengthening the healthcare system by ensuring the availability of safe blood.

He stated that voluntary blood donation is a noble act that demonstrates the highest form of humanity. “The youth have a role in leading this mission of hope, and universities must foster such humanitarian engagements that directly contribute to the well-being of society,” he remarked.

Registrar, Prof. Nisar Ahmad Mir in his address, said the event is not just about donating blood, but about cultivating a culture of empathy, service, and civic duty among the students. “Every drop of donated blood is a promise of life and hope to someone in need. This initiative will inspire our young scholars to understand their social responsibilities beyond the classroom,” he added.

The camp was facilitated by Medical Attendant Mr. Javid Ali.
