Ganderbal, October 6, 2025: In a notable verdict underlining Ganderbal Police’s commitment to justice, the Principal and District Sessions Court Ganderbal has convicted Ulfat Ahmad Magray, son of Ghulam Rasool Magray, resident of Khanan Kangan, in a case registered under FIR No. 24/2020 at Police Station Kangan.

The case, filed under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was meticulously investigated by the local police. Following the trial, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 1,000 under Section 4 of the POCSO Act.

SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), lauded the professionalism of the investigation team, particularly SI Mushtaq Ahmad (No. 173/GBL, EXK 891816), and the prosecution for their diligence. He reaffirmed that Ganderbal Police remains steadfast in safeguarding the dignity and safety of women and children, ensuring that perpetrators of heinous crimes are brought to justice.
