Ganderbal, 29 Nov: Kurag Tulmulla has increasingly become a major hub of illegal sand mining, triggering concern among locals who allege that the unregulated extraction is causing environmental degradation and posing risks to public safety. Heavy vehicles are frequently seen operating in the area, often during late hours and early mornings, with little regard for environmental norms.

When Contacted, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Ganderbal, Murtaza Bashir, acknowledged the issue and assured that the department will inspect the site and initiate strict action against those involved in the illegal activity.
